Just finished watching the Ramones documentary End of the Century. This seems to be an alarmingly honest look at the band. The band who without question created the punk rock genre. The live footage included in the film kills. These guys were the business. Of course there wouldn't be a story without the drama of the interpersonal relationships between the band members and the confounding lack of 'popular' respect and commercial success these punks endured. The reason Johnny kept them going all those years. To make the punk rock exclamation point mean something to people like me all around the world. Joe Strummer's comments throughout are genius, as are the interviews with all past members of the Ramones.
The Ramones are to music what Ali is to sports; ambassadors who set out to make things possible for all people.
