It's been awhile since I posted. Tempus fugit.
Amy & I took Brett & Suzanne to see the "Four Horsemen" Lyle Lovett, Guy Clark, Joe Ely, & John Hiatt for Brett's birthday. We had a great time listening to these veteran songwriters spin yarns and sing their songs. Guy played "stuff that works" and both Brett & I cried. I also spilled some tears during Hiatt's "seven little indians" and Clark's "randall knife."
If you never listened to "Butch" by the Geraldine Fibbers, you ought to ebay a copy. Some amazing Nels Cline guitar work to Carla Bozulich singin and songwritin. I've also been listening to an LP copy of Meet the Rutles. Neil Innes is a genius. Tons of fun and the whole thing sounds like a lost Beatles record. I found an LP copy of a Meet the Rutles tribute on Shimmy Disc. Daniel Johnston and Galaxy 500 show up on it and the whole thing is very good. You might as well watch the movie again too, another of my favorites.
Speaking of movies, try to find "Lubbock Lights" if you can. This little gem documents the extraordinary amount of musical genius that eminates from Lubbock Texas and surrounding flatness. Tons of Flatlanders, together and individually, Terry Allen, Lloyd Maines, and Tommy X Hancock. Highly recommended for the stories and performances.
Coming up musically right here in Indy: Feb. 7: Robbie Fulks and Danny Barnes, The 14 linear feet of duo tour!
Feb. 17: Lemonheads! Their new record is outstanding.
Mar. 6: The Who! My first time to see them. Can't wait.
Lastly, the Colts made it to the Super Bowl. I certainly hope they can win. It will give the local sporting community a big boost. We have historically been the little train that can't make it up the hill, but I think this just might do it. Should be a fun game.

Hey, Dude. Did you go see Fulks/Barnes tonight? How was it? Would've loved to have been there with you.
THANKS for the care package! I loved the stuff that you sent. The whole package, with contributions from everyone, was one of the best presents we've ever received. Seriously.
Thanks for the tip on Lubbock Lights. I'll see if it's on Netflix.
More soon, amigo ...
